A good training weekend.
Sunday Narrow Neck with Daryl and the tiger. Driving out along Hawksbury Road to collect Daryl House, getting close:
Tubby, looking up the road, spotting a red t-shirt: “That’ll be him. He must have walked up the driveway to the road”.
Gaz: “Does your friend look like a eucalyptus tree??”
Turns out Daryl was a tree with a big red band painted on it. Useless eye-surgeon. USELESS. Besides, who paints a tree red…..
First time on Narrow Neck, and it's an absolute winner. Awesome run, a hilly (at times) 10k out + 10k back along the narrow peninsula that juts out from the Western side of Katoomba. Not more than about 12m wide in parts – brilliant views. At the end of the track you are surrounded by cliff edges, and the opportunity presents to piss right off the ledge into the wilds below. World's best piss - what more could you ask for. Gaz stood right on the edge, but I was overcome with a case of ROP (Rapid Onset Pussyitis) and exercised a far more prudent approach. I stood a couple of metres back and pushed extra hard, aiming high in order to catch the Easterly breeze necessary to nail the required distance.
All in all a solid weekend.
70ish riding - Saturday Greendale
20k of tough run - Sunday
45min easy cycling on Sunday afternoon
A small twinge in the troublesome right calf has me limping slightly this morning, but nothing to worry greatly about. Brett over tomorrow should straighten it out again. Interestingly I broke my self imposed ban on riding the day before a long run - and then I pick up a minor injury. Peanut.
