Weight 90.0k
All in all a pretty good week. 175k on bike, recommenced
running, touched the water and got a first (rather punishing) massage. No pain
or limping today, though Achilles remains tender to the touch and still quite
thick in the right leg.
Friday: Ride home – 38k in good time
Saturday:
am Ride cut short to 45k due to Harry the Wonder Dog’s
overnight vet stay.
pm 8 x 230m @ 4:00 pace at Dukes with Riley
Sunday:
am: 1km of easy swimming with riley to reintroduce myself to
the poolpm: 30k in the crappy wind. Easy effort, concentrating on getting the pedals to go around. (Thinking of getting some slightly shorter cranks to try and alleviate some persistent patella discomfort).
Hawaii ironman yesterday. All the usual buzz, but it’s hard
not to see some very dark clouds looming for IM triathlon.
do they even test? it's a bit like soccer and tennis isn't it, nothing to see here.
ReplyDeleteI hate the fact that I default to that view. I just have trouble believing in a professional endurance based sport, which ocassionally produced unreal performances, yet has never picked up a major athlete for doping. For all of cycling faults, it has taken doping control more seriously than any other sport (via the passport system), yet still has problems. The issue for IM tri is that it doesn't have a particularly long history. If one of the stars (like Armstrong) came down via a Llandis style confession, it could lose virtually all its champions.
ReplyDeletei assume alot are cheating but i'm pretty sure triathletes wouldn't care anyway. everybody is getting hardened and the corporate sports fans are the least bothered by morals. on what planet is it acceptable for keat the cheat to quit an event built as much by allen vs scott as the stories at the back of the pack, just so she can be ready for her next pay day sooner. spit in the face to all the other competitors out there, just reinforces what i already suspected about that dog.
